“I can not recommend Martin and this tour high enough! I am in a wheelchair due to a spinal cord injury. Martin secured a vehicle I could get in and out of with assistance. It is hot and in Cartegena and we spent a lot of time in the air conditioned vehicle while we rode all around the old city with Martin’s narration and knowledge of the historical, old city.
He took us to the monastery high on the hill. The elevator next to the steps had been knocked out by lightning the night before. Martin didn’t even tell us. He and two other men carted me in my wheelchair up the steps of the monastery. The view was stunning as was the active monastery.
Martin stopped to get an arepa de huevo cooked on the street and it was delicious! He also got out at another point to but us a lime coconut drink and I have never tasted anything like it. When we got home he sent recipes for both. What an amazing man!
We did so much and learned so many things about Cartegena and it’s the only port we would like to visit for a week long vacation.Next trip! We will not hesitate to set up another tour with Martin and Julio. You will find their sweet nature, knowledge and hospitality a gem worth more than the emerald I brought home. Thanks Martin and Julio!”

Martin is amazing. We were able to book a private tour of Cartagena with only ten hours’ notice, after midnight, via WhatsApp. He picked up our party of 7 (3 generations of family) across from the port in a luxurious, spacious, air-conditioned van, holding up a sign with our name. It was so comforting after forging through 50 aggressively customer-recruiting taxi drivers. Martin’s manner is so relaxed, knowledgeable, friendly, professional, patient, and kind. He knows all the history, the best places to go, and took care of tickets while we waited in the pristine, cool van. It’s super hot outside, and he provided a bottle of chilled water for each person. He found the shady places for us to stand while telling us what we were looking at. He toured us through La Manga island (where the cruises dock), a small waterfront fort, La Popa monastery (incredible view, beautiful cloister), San Felipe fortress (an optional climb up to the top, with fun tunnels, great view), the old city, and the new city, with walking stops in each place, including the emerald museum. Back to the ship right on time with time to look around the port shop and enjoy the peacocks and parrots in the garden. Highly recommend!! Thank you, Martin!
