I live in Cartagena and usually bring visiting family and friends to these sites. This time we got a tour guide and did the City Tour. I was surprised how much I don’t know. Martin is exreemly knowledgable and knows how to give the interesting info at every site. It was a great experience for me as well as my family and I have allready signed up for the walking tour as well 🙂

We book Martin for a day tour of Cartagena and were very pleased. He showed us all the sights and had lots of interesting historical tidbits to share. I would definitely recommend him for a tour.

Martin was easy to book and work with. He replied promptly and showed up on time. The tour went smoothly just as he promised. The vehicle he provided for the group was clean and comfortable. My group of 9 travelers enjoyed the pacing as well as the commentary. He provided enough info to be interesting, but not overwhelming. He is an excellent choice for if you’re looking for a tour guide for Colombia. Good value for the money.

My family of four arrived in Cartagena on a Royal Carribean cruise. Cartagena is a lovely, breathtaking, and fascinating city, and Martin and his guides are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I would reccommend them.

“Our group of 9 people (ages 40s to 70s) booked the 3.5 hour City Tour on a cruise port stop on April 24, 2014. After initially contacting Martin for details of a possible tour, another crafty traveler swooped in and snapped him up before I could get everyone in our group to confirm. Fortunately, Martin offered the services of his associate, José, to take over our tour. Martin still handled all of the tour details, exchanged emails with me quickly, and even met our group at the dock before introducing us to the wonderful José.

José joyfully introduced all of us first-timers to the city he clearly loves. His passion for his homeland was obvious, and we learned so much about this beautiful city. In our short time we visited the monastery high on a hill above the city, the President’s House (one of my favorite stops), the fortress for a photo op, and took a stroll through the old city. All along the way, the wonderful José told us the stories and histories of the areas and people. He is an expert on Gabriel García Márquez (writer of One Hundred Years of Solitude), and we were able to see Márquez’s house and hear some great stories about his life. José patiently answered all of our many questions with humor and interest. I will never forget his beautiful voice singing to us the first two stanzas of the national anthem at the President’s House where the whole thing is printed on the wall. His pride in his country was obvious and infectious, and I got goosebumps.

Our blissfully well air-conditioned van (holy moley, it’s hot and humid here!) looked practically new and was adeptly driven by Roberto through some seriously confusing traffic. We even had a handicapped-access sticker on it to help get us closer to our stops for those with mobility issues (much appreciated!). The only thing we didn’t like was the stop at the mobbed tourist-trap shopping village which I had asked not to do, but we quickly high-tailed it out of there with no damage.

All in all, it was a terrific tour of an interesting and beautiful place. I highly recommend it for those looking for an alternative to the cruise ship’s cattle car tours.”
